A Message from Sisterhood

Co-Presidents
Mireille Mathalon and Rae Cohen

This is a message for all the ladies of our Sephardic Temple: Sisterhood is a caring group of women coming together to bond as family in an environment of friendship, learning and social interaction. Women of all ages can join us to grow, culturally and spiritually, as we learn from each other and from guest speakers we invite to share their knowledge. It is a place where there is mutual support and camaraderie.

Our main goal at Sisterhood is to serve our Temple – to enrich our holidays’ observances and to augment our varied social and cultural calendar. But, there is much more.

Sisterhood

Our Sisterhood lunches, prepared in our own kitchen by a dedicated group of wonderful ladies, are well attended and much enjoyed. In our effort to raise money for our Synagogue, we volunteer our services to fix dairy Kiddush luncheons for members’ celebrations. We do the preparation for Oneg Shabbat and hold baking sessions, making and selling our wonderful borekas and biscochos to benefit our Sisterhood treasury. In addition, we sponsor varied social and interesting cultural events, such as visits to museums and theatres, for our ladies enjoyment. Our beautiful Gift Shop is loaded with wonderful gifts for weddings, graduations, B’nai AND Bat Mitzvahs and many other occasions. We carry several Sephardic cookbooks and wonderful biographies of famous people.

Each of you women is important as an individual, but as a Sisterhood, we can make a difference. We can make our presence felt in many areas and continue to grow as individuals and as a community. We, at Sisterhood need you, and for you, there is much to be gained by joining us. We hope you hear our call.
