CANTOR MIZRAHI
Hello I am Cantor Haim Mizrahi and it has been my pleasure to serve as Hazan for Sephardic Temple for the past eleven years. When I started doing Hazanut in Turkey, I learned the original Ladino songs and melodies that I use to this day. I never imagined that I would end up in Los Angeles with such a wonderful Kehilla. Every Shabbat when I sing in front of the congregation, I feel like I am talking with G-d. When I read the weekly Torah portion, I sometimes imagine that I am back at Mount Sinai.
At the Talmud Torah, I teach the children the Shabbat prayers and songs. I also have a close relationship with the young boys and girls that I prepare for their Bar and Bat Mitzvah. It is very impressive how the children and their families get involved in the whole experience. Most of all, it is always best when we see the boys and girls continuing to come to Synagogue after they have become Bar Mitzvah.
It is so good to work with a young and energetic Rabbi such as Rabbi Bouskila. We have a good communication and the dynamic between us on Shabbat helps to make for a great service. After Shabbat services, when the congregants come up to me and say Chazak Ubaruch and other words of encouragement, they make me feel very special and wanted. I have a great love for the members of the Kahal, and I truly hope that my prayers are accepted on their behalf. Thank you, and I hope to see you in the temple very soon.
