Heritage Award![]() Mr. L. Larry Clumeck Mr. L. Larry Clumeck was born in Cairo, Egypt where his family celebrated all religious holidays and Larry learned to pray at his father's side at home each morning and at synagogue on Shabbat and holidays. In 1967, when he was fourteen, Larry's life in Egypt ended abruptly with Israel's Six Day War and the exodus of all Jews from Egypt. After fleeing Egypt for the United States, the family settled in Los Angeles where Larry continued his education, earned professional degrees, and started a family of his own with his wife Lea. In 1981, the Clumecks joined the Sephardic Temple, happy to reestablish themselves in a Sephardic community. Over the years Larry has become a stalwart pillar of STTI, serving twice as President of the Temple, as well as holding the positions of Membership, Ways and Means, Religion, Financial, and Legal Vice President. His leadership in the larger Sephardic Jewish community includes President of the Los Angeles Sephardic Home for the Aging (LASHA) and a founding member of Sephardic Tradition and Recreation (STAR), where he serves as the youth group's Treasurer and Financial Vice President.
